Spoiled by Religion
CAN COMFORT KILL?
Jeremiah 2:7-14
7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. 8 The priests said not, Where is the LORD (YHWH or יהוה)? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. 9 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith יהוה, and with your children's children will I plead. 10 For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing. 11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. 12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD (יהוה). 13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. 14 Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?
SPOILED BY RELIGION
Today we live in a society where it seems everything has been reversed. What was once considered holy and righteous has now been deemed insulting and non-inclusive. We’ve gotten so bad that even the church has brought charges against the LORD with the false claim that His Laws (instructions/Torah) are works of oppression.
The standards in our country have become so manipulated that our moral compass has been all but destroyed. What was once Evil in the sight of the Father is now called “Progress” and “Consciousness”. In fact, it’s gotten so bad that we can’t even tell the truth to our friends anymore without being called a Hater. It’s unfortunate, even deplorable, that the postmodern church has dealt us a bad hand.
(SIN)SITIVE “SAINTS”
Sin has a way of making people sensitive. Because sin takes our focus off of the Father and His holy presence, all we are left with is a set of misguided emotions. In short, we’re in denial about our despair and are therefore emotional about our condition. So, it’s no longer considered love when you tell someone the truth. NOW it’s only LOVE when you LIE to appease the Sensitivity of Sin.
CHRIST TAUGHT US THAT WE OUGHT TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES! BUT THE PROBLEM ISN’T WITH THE SCRIPTURE; IT’S WITH THE WAY WE’VE APPLIED IT IN OUR CIRCLES! WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF AN IDENTITY CRISIS! WE’VE GOTTEN SO CONFUSED ABOUT WHO WE ARE THAT WE’VE LOST OUR REFERENCE OF WHAT REAL LOVE LOOKS LIKE. The type of love I’m looking for is the love that will tell me the truth even when it hurts my feelings.
THE COMMANDMENTS OF ELOHIM ARE DESIGNED TO PROTECT – NOT TO PACIFY! IT IS A SAD DAY WHEN WE ACCEPT FLAWED RELIGIOUS THINKING ON THE BASIS THAT IT MAKES US FEEL GOOD BUT DOES NOTHING FOR THE CONDITION OF YOUR MIND AND FOR THE STATE OF YOUR SPIRIT!
WE HAVE ENTERED INTO A TRADE AGREEMENT WHERE WE NO LONGER STAND FOR WHAT LEADS TO ETERNITY; WE NOW FALL FOR EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION! SO INSTEAD OF BEING SANCTIFIED BY TRUTH – WE ARE BEING SPOILED BY RELIGION. Saafir I Jenkins, Pastor
